THOUGHTS ABOUT THE PIECE
From the initial idea discussed by Jose Saramago and Emilio Aragon, the antithesis between good and evil in the personification of Cain and Abel, both authors were drifting towards a recreation of the worldviews of different cultures, in the process leading to creation. Cain’s character would be “at the mercy” of the writer, who would star of his latest book, while Pilar del Rio, today Saramago’s widow, was driving the dialogue towards a volume of poems in 1975: The year of 1993. From him, Fernando Gómez Aguilera performed a selection according to the writer. Aragon, always aiming to extract the musical figures who supply their texts, found here a profusion of images that emerge enormously suggestive musical tissue along the nine pieces that make up the work.
José Ramón Encinar.
